“How Amazing” Devotional

Isaiah 43:1 “But now, this is what the LORD says– He who created you, Jacob, He who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.””

Romans 8:37-39 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for Jesus. His love continually baffles me. His rich mercy humbles me. He is truly my greatest friend. Jesus has been there in my darkest, most disgraceful times. He lifted my head when I had no strength of my own. He turned my ashes into something beautiful. He saved my life, rescuing me from the pits of hell. Two thousand years ago, He willingly laid down His life to save mine. To think I was on His mind…You were on His mind – that is love. He IS love. How AMAZING!

“How Amazing” was written from a place of being completely undone by the wonderful love of Jesus. On the morning that we wrote this song, my heart was burdened for those who suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts. It is an issue that is personal to me. The enemy has tried to poison the thoughts of too many of my loved ones. He has tried to steal and destroy their precious lives too many times and I hate it. I hate that right now there are people believing destructive, empty lies. But Jesus is greater. His love is more powerful and His bright light can drive out even the blackest night. Where we see death, He sees LIFE abundant. Where we see failure, He sees opportunity for GLORY and REDEMPTION.

Before I knew Jesus, I was broken. While I looked at my painful past and saw something impossible, He saw something possible. He saved my life, He restored my hope, and He made me new. No matter what you are facing right now, whether anxiety, depression, or addiction…Perhaps you are in a season of spiritual drought and exhaustion, or maybe you are simply not living in the abundant love He has for you. Wherever you are, come to Him…He wants it all.

His love is big enough to carry, redeem, and restore whatever is it you are walking through. Nothing in this world could ever change that truth. Nothing is impossible for Him and nothing you feel or do will ever make Him love you less. Nothing “will be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39) You are His and always will be His. He has “summoned you by name.” (Isaiah 43:1)

Rest in that truth today. Simply “be” in His presence and let Him do the rest.

Oh, how amazing, Your love came pouring out
Oh, how amazing, the grace that I have found
I’m lost in wonder, here I am, undone
Oh, how amazing, how amazing…this love
